Eubacteria
Les eubactéries (Eubacteria), ou « vraies bactéries », sont une subdivision majeure des procaryotes, comprenant toutes les bactéries. On peut citer par exemple les Chlorobactéries (auxquelles on peut adjoindre, selon la théorie endosymbiotique, les chloroplastes), les Protéobactéries (incluant les mitochondries selon la même théorie), les Cyanobactéries, les Mycoplasmes (Mollicutes), les Entérobactéries, les Pseudomonades et la plupart des bactéries gram-positives.
Il en existe près de 10 000 espèces répertoriées, mais la diversité réelle du groupe est probablement supérieure.
